Corporate Sustainability

In today's business landscape, corporate sustainability is a key factor in the selection of suppliers. WorkflowOne has a rigorous recycling program in all of its plants, warehouses and offices to encourage recycling and minimize waste. Moreover, the leadership at WorkflowOne develops corporate policies that consider the impact of our company in every aspect of the social, cultural and economic environment.

A rigorous recycling program

In 2010 WorkflowOne recycled over 21 million pounds of material across our national operations. This ongoing program includes:

Paper – WorkflowOne recycles  all waste and scarp items from our offices and business forms manufacturing. Obsolete and discontinued products are shredded, compacted and shipped to a recycling facility.

Solvents – WorkflowOne printing operations use non-hazardous, water-based products for most solvents used as blanket washes and fountain solutions. We use EPA-certified contractors to collect and dispose of the waste materials through fuel blending or recycling. We follow local standards to dispose of other non-hazardous water-based solvents.

Inks – To reduce volatile organic compounds and air emissions WorkflowOne uses non-hazardous soy-based inks instead of oil-based inks, eliminating alcohol from our press process. Waste inks are collected in special waste storage areas by EPA-certified disposal contractor for fuel blending, reuse and/or recycling.

A recognized leader in energy conservation

WorkflowOne is a leader in energy conservation, receiving public acclaim for its innovative policies and practices.

Minnesota’s Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) listed WorkflowOne as a “Top Team” for conserving energy and reducing CO2 emissions through the installation of new energy saving lights in our Minneapolis business service center (BSC) and sales office where energy costs have been reduced by one-third.

WorkflowOne's Livermore, CA, plant was among local companies praised for energy conservation by the Business Energy Coalition of California. Livermore is working with Pacific Gas & Electric to schedule planned downtimes during peak usage periods in order to relieve demand on the electric grid – without impacting customer service.

Health and safety are integral to our corporate culture

WorkflowOne maintains a safe and healthy workplace, free of occupational injury and illness. Our culture emphasizes individual responsibility for safety by all employees and at all levels of management. Employees are encouraged to report potential safety hazards and issues and to be involved in implementing solutions.

WorkflowOne's Environmental, Health & Human Safety (EHHS) works to standardize the use of chemicals across our operations and find safer, greener materials for use in manufacturing.
